There are many different types of massage. You have probably heard about several different types and wondered what the difference between them is? Which one is right for you? Here are just a few:

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the trained and expert use of essential oils for physical and emotional health and well being. Essential oils are aromatic essences extracted from plants, flowers, trees, fruits, bark, grasses and seeds which promote a restoration of balance, improving the self-healing process by stimulation of the immune system to the receiver through different methods of application.

Corporate Chair Massage
Chair massage is usually done at your workplace and is normally between 10 and 20 minutes long in duration. The therapist comes prepared with a massage chair designed with comfort in mind. With chair massage, no oils are used and there is no need to get undressed. Employees will immediately feel relaxed, refreshed and ultimately ready to work. It is an easy and profitable way to improve the moral of your staff, reduce stress, increase employee productivity, lower the cost of health care, and show your employees that you care. You’ll be in good company.

Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage is in between a Swedish Massage with its fluid movements, and a Neuromuscular Therapy Treatment with the use of fists or forearms in applying deeper strokes to your muscles. While Deep Tissue is more specific than a Swedish Massage, it does not use static pressure on specific trigger points, as does Neuromuscular Therapy.

Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy is a very specific type of advanced corrective technique also known as Advanced Deep Tissue. It is very specific spot work on an affected area, and not a complete full body massage. It includes work on neuromuscular trigger points, which are specific areas that the nerves and muscle meet together. Static pressure on these affected or painful trigger points will often refer pain, discomfort or a tingly feeling to another area. Upon being pressed, your trigger point may feel sore for a minute or two before easing up and decreasing your initial pain. There are documented, precise and consistent maps of trigger points and referral zones. Neuromuscular Therapy is quite effective in addressing a whole host of complaints including chronic neck, shoulder, back and hip discomforts. Communication is very important during your session; always let your therapist know if you need a change in pressure at any time during your treatment.

Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is the actual type of massage that most people think of when they hear “massage”. It uses long, flowing, light strokes and can include kneading, friction type motions, light percussion, and joint movements. This is our recommended massage for a first time massage client or for someone who wants to deeply relax and increase blood and lymphatic circulation.
